What is the difference between closeboard and feather edge fencing?

What is the difference between closeboard and feather edge fencing?

GMT Groundworks is able to erect both types of fencing, however the most popular type of fence we install is close board. Close board fencing is made up of overlapping vertical boards (usually 4ft high) which are fixed to horizontal rails. The gaps between the boards are then filled with smaller pieces of wood known as battens.

Feather edge fencing is similar to close board fencing in that it also consists of vertical boards fixed to horizontal rails. However, instead of overlapping the boards, they are butted up against each other and the gaps are filled with feather edge boards (hence the name!). Both types of fence provide excellent levels of privacy and security and can be adapted to suit a variety of different garden designs.
